Quick follow up on yesterday's piece on blocking. First of all I have no issues per-se about security guards coding, in fact I think that's brilliant. What's not brilliant imho is a piece of software, and society kind of is that, where changing something in one place breaks something in a completely unrelated place. Anyone that has debugged a badly written website will know the pitfalls. Eventually these things compound and cause cascading failures.

Secondly on the main topic, yes the world will always block you when you are doing something important and worthwhile, at least that' been my experience. But be careful don't rely on it, because somehow if you are doing something dumb / stupid, like driving off a cliff, the world will often not block you and in fact egg you on. It's a terrible state of affairs that leads to everyone having to drive off cliffs just to continue existing. Solving the cliff jumping doom loop would be a great improvement, but looks unsolvable to me. And some people believe it or not quite like that. #
