I've just been installing node from source, the git repo docs make it look like it's really complicated, but it's actually rather simple - the developer experience is a bit poor though, right at the end of the install a load of firewall popups...urgh which doesn't happen when installing perl and ruby from source, their install from source docs are better toowww.vultr.com #
