YYYY-MM-DD format date in shell script - This date format is the most useful imho because files list alphabetically and so listing a directory gets you all the files in the order they were created. I've been using it for years. It's really popular with sys admins. Anyway I never knew there was a -I flag and had to google the date command syntax each time I was creating files in a script.
